Final Thoughts!

I love seeing how our hard work paid off! Everything we worked on looks amazing, if not better than planned! I'd like to thank Mr. Pineda and Mr. Rotman as well as everyone we photographed for the Perception poster, it all came together beautifully and I had the best time doing it with my friends. Although we faced several obstacles, we wouldn't have came up with better ideas.

I am sad that this is my last post, but, I'm proud of what we came up with! Thank you so much for following me on this creative journey :) !

Poster Inspiration!

We had discussed and even uploaded a picture of our poster idea, but in the end we decided on our "famous" collage. However, once we gathered all of our photos and added a font, I thought it looked boring and way too distracting.

The faces were too distracting, there was nowhere to put the Netflix logo where you could see it, and anywhere we put the title, it looked awkward. Disappointed, I browsed for some inspiration. I typed into google, "Black and White Movie Posters." Of course, thousands popped up, but I found this!

I thought the letters and the photo masked together looked different and interesting. So I went to work using Phonto to find a font and Superimpose to mask the letters. I merged both images together and it looked just the way I wanted! Also, I added the Netflix original logo, and three names of some of the cast members and it was ready for display!

Thankfully, I found the inspiration photo above because if not, we would have been stuck thinking of what to do with our photos.

Here's the final poster.

We Had a Problem...

We had planned on meeting at might house to edit since I had all the footage on my PC I thought that if we could be together we could all edit the way we want it. We all thought it was a great idea and set the time for 11:00 A.M. However, by the time it was around 10:30 Isabel and Gaby said they couldn't make it because of other errands. Which at first upset me because I really wanted to get it out of the way that day but, it's okay. They offered working on the website and taking pictures of people for the poster though. So, I thought I could finish editing over the weekend and bring the whole thing done on Tuesday to show them in class.
Then, after showing them they could tell me if they want any changes or not. Now, I'm a bit worried because I feel like I've stretched myself our too thin. I have a bunch of other things to do as well, and I'm not sure if I could also take pictures by Tuesday too. Soooo as you can see, I'm kind of freaking out. But, it's fine, I know in the end we always figure it out. But, that's exactly what I wanted to avoid in the first place by organizing this well.

Group Critiques!

Today, our teacher placed us in groups of 4-6 for the whole class, so we could take advice from each other. My group had five other members, and they liked my documentary idea. I told them I was having trouble with coming up of a name for my entire series. They thought I should brainstorm something that has to do with generations and stereotypes. Or to find something that had to with how we are perceived. So, that helped guide us to come up with

- "Across the Ages"
- "Generations' Customs"
- "Composition"

For now, that's all I could really think of. However, once we gather our media to create the poster and website, as well as finish the editing process, I think that we could think of even more names for our project. The problem is that, I want to decide soon so that we could have the domain for our website ready as soon as possible. My group also suggested on looking at where we are distributing our documentary since it could alter the design of the poster. I told them we wanted to market our documentary to be available on Netflix, and they I said I needed to look into how they create their posters based off of that.

Website Design

Today in class, Isabel, Gaby, and I focused on creating a website that could show neatly and aesthetically present our documentary. So, at first, we began setting up our Weebly account. However, we saw another one of our peers designing their website too, and the templates they were experimenting with looked really nice, so we asked her what she was using and she said she was using Wix. So, we discarded the Weebly idea and went for Wix instead. Fortunately, we looked through several website templates and found that we wanted a design that could allow us to show our poster as well as a widget to allow anyone visiting the site to click directly into our project. Although the set color scheme wasn't that interesting, we didn't worry much because we knew that we could change the settings later.
Once we picked our design for our website, we started thinking of poster ideas together, besides the one I had in mind. Isabel then mentioned we could take several pictures of our interviewees together. Then she thought, why don't we just take pictures of each of them? I then had an idea of having a college sort of thing, where we could show a timeline of each age group grow over time. But then we thought of an even better idea of making a collage of headshots of people of different age groups. Within each of these pictures, we'd have a bright, solid colored background so when all of the pictures are put together, we'd have a multi-colored checkerboard like effect. We all agreed to do that and take pictures of people we knew over the weekend.
